On Friday, May 3, more than 2,000 of Oregon's Latino students from more than 70 high schools are expected to participate in the 2019 César E. Chávez Leadership Conference (CECLC) at Western Oregon University.
Students will take part in a full day of activities including workshops, exhibitor fairs and networking events. There will be an award ceremony for those who submitted art, poetry and video to the CECLC, as well as CECLC scholarship awards.
Educational Credit Management Corp. (ECMC), a gold level sponsor, will exhibit at the event, highlighting its support services for Latino students in Oregon, including college preparation and planning resources.
Additionally, an ECMC representative will be on site to offer college planning advice to students, answer questions and schedule free follow-up meetings at local schools.
ECMC is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to help students succeed. It works to lower student loan default rates, sponsors college access and success initiatives and financial literacy programs, and provides resources to support student loan borrowers to successfully repay their loans.
